The gi fabric tote bag uses the exact cloth of our Shohei gi: a white 450 GSM pearl weave. That is two to three times the weight of an ordinary cotton tote, and you feel it the moment you pick it up.<\/p>\n

What gi fabric changes<\/h2>\n

An ordinary tote bag loses its shape within weeks. The handles stretch, the fabric puckers at the corners, the bottom eventually gives. Pearl weave was built to take full-handed grips for years.<\/p>\n

So the bag holds its shape even half empty, and both handles are reinforced where they anchor, the first place a cheap bag fails.<\/p>\n

The embroidery<\/h2>\n

One side carries a vertical composition, entirely embroidered: a golden rising sun, the two kanji \u67d4\u8853 that read j\u016bjutsu and give us jiu-jitsu, the words Athletes on the Mat Kimonos in red, and the brand emblem below.<\/p>\n

Embroidered, not printed. The difference shows after ten washes: a print flakes and fades, embroidery lasts as long as the cloth it sits on. The close-up in the gallery also shows the honeycomb grain of pearl weave, which you will not find on any cotton tote.<\/p>\n

What it is actually for<\/h2>\n

Standard tote format: a laptop, groceries, or a rolled-up training kit. It is not a gear bag, there is no separate wet compartment and no shoulder strap. It is an everyday bag in a material nobody expects to see on a bag.<\/p>\n

It is sold separately from the Shohei gi. You do not need the gi to get the bag, or the other way round.<\/p>\n

Care<\/h2>\n

Wash at 30 \u00b0C, air dry. The fabric barely creases. Skip the tumble dryer, exactly as you would with a gi: pearl weave shrinks with heat.<\/p>\n

What is this tote bag made of?<\/summary>The same cloth as our gis: a 450 GSM cotton pearl weave. It is a dense weave, built to take repeated grips on the mat. On a bag, that means fabric that does not stretch out and holds its shape even when empty.\r\n<\/details>
Does the embroidery survive washing?<\/summary>Yes. It is thread-on-thread embroidery, not a print. It will not flake or crack. Wash at 30 \u00b0C and let it air dry.\r\n<\/details>
How much does it hold?<\/summary>It measures [L] \u00d7 [W] \u00d7 [H] cm, enough for a full gi with its belt and a few extras.\r\n<\/details>
Can it go in the washing machine?<\/summary>Yes, at 30 \u00b0C maximum, no tumble dryer. As with a gi, heat is the only real enemy of cotton.\r\n<\/details>
